Analysis | Unqualified Chinese food exports to US in 2021 Q3

 
According to the data that unqualified Chinese products exports to US refused by US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) from July to September, Foodmate analyses that in the third quarter of 2021, a total of 396 batches of Chinese products were rejected by the US FDA, of which 71 batches of food were rejected.

The top three reasons for the refusal of Chinese exported food in the third quarter were: melamine; containing decaying or other unsuitable substances; containing toxic and harmful substances. The specific statistics are shown in the figure below:

Others reasons why products were rejected by the United States include Salmonella (1 case), Listeria (1 case), unsafe novel animal drugs (3 cases), unapproved novel drugs (2 cases), and unregistered as a manufacturer of low-acid canned foods or acidified foods (1 case), etc.

Foodmate reminds export companies that the quality of food during transportation should be strictly controlled to avoid food decay and deterioration due to long-distance transportation; for melamine and toxic and hazardous substances, companies should control raw and auxiliary materials.
